evergreen to semi evergreen; 10-year-old plant about 24 inches X 24 inches,
but the plant has been crowded and these measurements may give a false
impression; flowers single with occasional petaloidy of stamen, 2 1/2 to
3 inches diameter, two to four per lead, freely produced and some tendency
to autumn and winter bloom in Mississippi, Rose Red, with dots of blotch
area distinct though not showy, of Pomegranate Purple (Ridgeway) which
is only the effect of deeper color at base of flower, stamens 5, some petaloidy,
pistil normal.
