The Delp Rhododendrons are a vast and diverse group of plants offering something for the novice or even the most discriminating collector. Most have proven to be quite hardy and easy to grow.
My garden is located in Southwestern Virginia in the heart of the
Blue
Ridge Mountains in Franklin County. We are in USDA Zone 6.
Our temperatures can be extreme with highs and lows changing
rapidly.
Our average rainfall is 40 inches and our average snowfall is 24
inches.
I have been growing the Delp s for approximately twenty years and they
just get better and better. The ones selected as the "Top 50" for
me have proven hardy in my garden, blooming well year after year and
for
overall plant characteristics. This past year was an exceptional
season for plant bloom and virtually every plant in my garden flowered
and I saw a lot of the Delp s for the first time. I am sure
the next "Top 50" will be exciting. I urge you to give these plant a
try
in your garden. This is the only way we will be able to keep this
legacy alive.
